Our department is enriched by a distinguished group of national faculty members specializing in various fields of economics.
The department strives to enhance students' understanding of economic issues in society through education that fosters independent thinking and a sense of responsibility, equipping them with skills for lifelong learning that will benefit their future careers.
We also aim to actively participate in preparing, presenting, and organizing scientific meetings, seminars, workshops, and specialized training courses.
In conclusion, we confidently and ambitiously work towards achieving the program's goals, which align with the educational processes in Libyan universities.

Description
The Economics Department is one of the modern and ambitious scientific departments at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science - Tiji. The department commenced its educational program for awarding a Bachelor’s degree in Economics starting from the Spring 2021 semester and continues to accept students aspiring to obtain this academic degree. This aligns with the department’s plan to enhance the research and scientific capabilities of its students to meet the needs of the surrounding environment and community.
The department aims to prepare scientific and professional cadres specialized in the field of economics to address the shortage of specialized scientific competencies in the community, which are capable of developing and advancing the national economy in accordance with the values and requirements of Libyan society.
- The department was established as part of the scientific departments approved by the decision to establish the Faculty of Economics and Political Science - Tiji, issued by the Council of Ministers under No. (13) of 2017.
- The first batch of graduates from the department was in the Fall 2023/2024 semester.
- The department includes five faculty members, all of whom are nationals graduated from various Libyan and Arab universities.

Aiming for leadership and excellence in providing educational and knowledge services that align with the vision of the college and the university, meet quality standards and requirements, and fulfill the needs of the surrounding environment and community.
Mission
Developing educational programs and research and training activities that comply with quality standards, ensuring the successful qualification of specialized and skilled human resources in the field of economics, capable of serving the surrounding environment and community.
Goals
- Promote national values among faculty members and students.
- Link theoretical concepts with practical aspects in the field of economics and deepen their understanding.
- Prepare scientifically and intellectually specialized experts in various fields of economics and its modern branches.
- Focus on scientific research and provide in-depth economic studies to address the latest knowledge related to the specialization, and propose solutions to economic problems at both local and global levels.
- Contribute to serving the community and the surrounding environment, and meet the current and future needs of specialists.
